The South West Regional Skills Partnership is the one partnership which unites the entire business and learning community to create a demand-led approach to tackle the challenges and priorities of the South West Skills Base. We put employers at the centre stage in determining the skills needed to achieve a productive economy, whilst helping individuals gain the skills they need to be employed in the region. Overall our region has:

  • A healthy labour market, but in places it is characterised by having low value added, low wages and low productivity
  • Priority sectors including: ‘Support Business Productivity’, ‘Encourage New Enterprise’, ‘Deliver Skills for the Economy’, ‘Compete in the Global Economy’ and ‘Promote Innovation’ with varying skills needs and issues
  • A need to improve literacy and numeracy
  • A net outflow of young people and graduates

It is to address issues such as these that the South West Regional Skills Partnership has developed Regional Skills Priorities.
